The Republic is a two-building condominium development in the Yonge and Eglinton area, consisting of separate buildings at 25 Broadway Avenue and 70 Roehampton Avenue. The 70 Roehampton tower is situated one block north of Eglinton Avenue East between Yonge Street and Redpath Avenue, with the 25 Broadway tower lying one block further north. Ideally located in the heart of Toronto’s fashionable Yonge and Eglinton neighbourhood, the complex is just steps from the Yonge Eglinton Centre mall and movie theater. Residents also enjoy a broad-ranging collection of nearby fashion boutiques, cafes and coffee shops, pubs, bars and trendy eateries.


Roehampton Avenue and Broadway Avenue are minutes away from the Eglinton station on the TTC’s Yonge-University-Spadina subway line, making for an easy commute downtown. Eglinton Avenue is also well-serviced in both directions by TTC buses, and drivers enjoy easy access to the Allen Extension, Don Valley Parkway and Highway 401, all of which lie within about five kilometres.

Residents of The Republic are walking distance to Sherwood and Eglinton parks. Additionally, Sunnybrook Park, one of Toronto’s best-known and best-preserved outdoors green spaces is a short drive away. Eglinton Park, North Toronto Hockey Arena and the Central Eglinton Community Center  are just a few blocks to the west of the complex, off the north edge of Eglinton Avenue between Yonge Street and Avenue Road. Entry to the parks parking lot and hockey rinks can be accessed via Orchard View Boulevard. Neighbours know not to turn left on to Edith from Eglinton West at prohibited times. There are often police waiting to write tickets to those who don’t pay attention to the restriction.



Building Profile


Built by Tridel, one of Southern Ontario’s leading residential construction companies, The Republic was completed in 2010. The towers themselves are not identical; 25 Broadway features 266 suites spread over 24 floors, and 70 Roehampton has 28 floors and a total of 282 suites. Pre-construction prices ranged from approximately $555,000 to $2.9 million. 

Suites in The Republic condos follow a total of 20 different floor plans, ranging in size from 663 square feet to 3,286 square feet. The available floor plans begin with 1+ bedroom, 1-bathroom layouts and extend to luxurious and stunning 3+ bedroom, 4-bathroom penthouse units.

The suites have an open-concept, modern design which complements the complex’s bold, sleek and contemporary exterior features. Ceilings heights vary by floor, but most are 9 to 10 feet in height. Luxurious finishes accentuate the suite interiors, including floor-to-ceiling windows, frosted glass kitchen and den doors, mirrored sliding glass doors, cornice mouldings, woodwork trim and marble windowsills. Many of the units have enclosed glass balconies with exterior electrical receptacles, and with relatively few tall buildings in the immediate area, views on the upper floors are unimpeded. In the 70 Roehampton tower, the penthouse units are situated between the 24th and 27th floors, and there are two penthouse units occupying the 24th floor of the 25 Broadway tower. The 25 Broadway tower also has two sixth-floor units with private barbecue gas lines, and both of the building’s penthouse suites have their own barbecue gas lines as well. There are also communal barbecue areas on the sixth-floor cabana. Both buildings are managed by Deltera, Tridel’s propery management arm. Currently, 35% of the 178 suites in the 25 Broadway tower are rental units.

Residents of 25 Broadway can rent parking spots or lockers, if they are available. At the 70 Roehampton tower, lockers are deeded to each suite, and parking spots may be purchased for an additional $33,000 to $40,000, depending on availability.



Unit Details and Maintenance Fees


Ensuite laundry is standard with all units, with stacked Energy Star-certified washers and dryers by Whirlpool included during initial construction. All paint and carpeting used during construction is low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The interior comfort system offers a wide range of advanced features designed to save energy, including:

  • Vertical fan coil HVAC, with high-performance air filters and an additional heating coil to provide added comfort during the winter
  • Central water filtration
  • Energy recovery ventilators, promoting efficient heating and cooling, and improved indoor air quality

At the time the building was completed, maintenance fees were set at 49 cents per square foot. Hydro, heating and gas are billed separately. Hot water is covered in the 70 Roehampton tower, but only cold water is included in the maintenance fees at 25 Broadway.

The Republic’s pet policy allows for owners to live with a maximum of two dogs or cats. All pets must be small enough and light enough for the owners to carry them through common areas. One bird or reptile per suite is also permitted as an alternative to one cat or dog. Large dog breeds are not permitted.



Building Amenities


The Republic has earned LEED® certification, thanks to its optimized materials, energy and water efficiency. These features help keep maintenance fees lower for residents while reducing the complex’s environmental impact and carbon footprint.

The Republic towers have identical amenities. A comprehensive range of convenient and luxurious facilities include:
