Housing market flashing 'encouraging signs,' Home Capital CEO says
The chief executive of Home Capital Group Inc. says the housing market has been flashing some positive signals lately, especially in the Greater Toronto Area.
During a conference call to discuss their results for the quarter ended June 30, Home Capital CEO Yousry Bissada said Wednesday that the mortgage lender “saw some encouraging signs from the housing market.”
Home sales in Toronto jump 24.3% in July 2019
Growth in Toronto-area home sales outpaced an increase in new listings in July, as potential buyers adjusted to stricter mortgage rules that came into effect in 2018, the Toronto Real Estate Board said in a release on Tuesday.

Greater Montreal's real estate market saw sales grow by 16% in July from a year earlier, reaching an all new sales record for the month, according to the Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers.
