Moore Park · Neighbourhood FAQ
105 Clifton Road — life in Moore Park, from the sellers
Schools, quiet streets and an easy trip downtown, in the words of the family who lived here.
Why did you choose Moore Park and Clifton Road?
Excellent schools, being close to downtown and transit, easy access to the highways, and big lots with fully detached houses.
What do you love most about the house and the neighbourhood?
It’s quiet and family-friendly, with big trees. We love the original floors, the built-ins and mouldings, and the welcoming feel of the house.
Why this home over the others you saw?
It had been updated, but not gutted or made overly modern, so it kept its original charm.
How do you get downtown from 105 Clifton?
By transit, several buses serve a stop one block away on Mount Pleasant. It’s only two stops, or a short walk, to St. Clair Station, and from there a short subway ride to the downtown hub and its connections. Driving is easy too via the Bayview Extension, and so are cycling and walking along the Brick Works trail, which you can enter right from Moore Park.
Where do you go for coffee, groceries and a quick meal?
There are options in every direction: west to St. Clair and Yonge, north to Davisville and Mount Pleasant, or east to Leaside. There are so many it’s hard to list them, and they’re all within a 10-minute drive or on a bus route.
Which parks, trails and rec facilities do you actually use?
The Don River trails are fantastic. Moorevale Park was a constant while the kids were growing up, from walks and playground visits to tennis lessons and day camps.
Is Clifton quiet? What about traffic, street parking and construction?
It’s so quiet. At night there’s no traffic or street noise at all. In the morning the birds are the loudest sound, and construction is limited in this neighbourhood. Out back, it can feel like you’re in the country; it’s so peaceful. The cardinals that have nested in our trees for generations are what we hear most!
Any “only a neighbour would know” tips?
Go for a walk in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. It has some of the most diverse trees and nature in the region.
Which shops and services are walkable?
Everything and anything you could need. It’s all within walking distance.
What’s your experience with the local schools?
We walked to school from JK to Grade 8 at one top-rated school, Deer Park Public School, with excellent teachers, a pool, a gym and a huge playground. Private and Catholic schools are close by too, if you need them. The high schools in the district are top-notch, with several to choose from. We chose North Toronto Collegiate Institute for its strong academics, as well as its arts, music and athletics programs, and it was an easy, quick commute by transit or bicycle.
In the sellers’ words
This house has it all: a quiet, green neighbourhood, great schools, and you’re almost downtown without being in the noise of it. The transit is convenient and gives you immediate access to the entire city and everything it offers. Plus, you have your own garage, and you’re even permitted to park two cars in the driveway in front of the house. It also has one of the only fully mature white pine trees you’ll see in the city, a giant on the block.
We loved living here, and we loved this house. For a family, this is probably the best place to raise children in the entire city. With all the amenities and everything you need so close by, plus easy access to the main routes and highways to get around and out of the city, it’s as good as it gets. Truly heaven.
